Contrapposta al fragore della guerra, la musica è il suono della pace: sulla base di questo principio, anche sotto le bombe, i musicisti di Gaza hanno continuato a formare i loro studenti e le loro studentesse e a condividere sui social, le registrazioni dei loro incontri: documentavano una incontenibile voglia di vita, di libertà e di pace delle nuove generazioni che non avrebbe dovuto soccombere sotto la violenza disumana che si è scatenata su di loro.
Noi li abbiamo sentiti: le nostre studentesse e i nostri studenti li hanno ascoltati, le nostre Istituzioni hanno risposto offrendo un aiuto che si è concretizzato in accordi e rapporti di scambio accademico, accogliendo giovani affinché potessero proseguire qui i propri studi e mettendosi a disposizione perché le conoscenze e le esperienze didattiche potessero fluire in tutte le direzioni, anche quando e dove le Università e i Conservatori sono ridotti in macerie.
Distrutti gli edifici, restano le persone che fanno le Istituzioni ed è con queste persone, da sempre estranee alla violenza, da sempre impegnate a coltivare e diffondere una profonda e antica civiltà musicale e un’eredità culturale che è parte del patrimonio dell’umanità, che le nostre istituzioni, il Conservatorio “Rinaldo Franci” di Siena e l’Università di Siena hanno rafforzato le prospettiva di collaborazione, paritaria e concreta.
All’Università di Siena, che da oltre dieci anni ha inserito nella propria rete di scambi internazionali università palestinesi della Cisgiordania e della striscia di Gaza, si è affiancato il Conservatorio “Rinaldo Franci” di Siena, che ha presentato la propria candidatura nel quadro del programma Erasmus+, d’intesa con il National Conservatory of Music “Edward Said” della Birzeit University.
Il concerto che è proposto alla popolazione studentesca e alla cittadinanza intende riportare l’attenzione al dramma che è tuttora in corso nella striscia di Gaza, accentuato dal conflitto che si è scatenato nella regione, e la scelta condivisa dal comitato organizzatore ha identificato come modo migliore il dialogo affidato al suono, alle musiche, alle voci, di chi chiede silenzio - il silenzio delle armi - perché possa risuonare, colmando le distanze, il linguaggio universale e condiviso della musica, a dimostrare che a Gaza, a Bethlehem, in Cisgiordania, si resiste, per esistere, e per poter suonare un giorno in pace e in libertà.
Il concerto si comporrà di una breve introduzione da parte della rappresentanza delle Istituzioni coinvolte e procederà con un’alternanza di esecuzioni dal vivo e in diretta telematica da parte di musicisti del Conservatorio senese e delle sezioni di Gaza e Bethlehem del Conservatorio nazionale palestinese.
Il concerto avrà inizio alle ore 17 di martedì 17 marzo 2026 presso l’Auditorium del Santa Chiara Lab dell’Università di Siena in via Val di Montone 1, è ad ingresso gratuito ed è aperto a tutte le componenti delle comunità accademiche e alla cittadinanza.
Set against the roar of war, music is the sound of peace. On the basis of this principle, even under the bombs, the musicians of Gaza have continued to train their students and to share recordings of their meetings on social media. They documented an irrepressible
desire for life, freedom, and peace among the new generations—a desire that should not have been crushed by the inhuman violence unleashed upon them.
We heard them: our students listened to them, and our institutions responded by offering support that took shape in agreements and academic exchange relationships. Young people were welcomed so that they could continue their studies here, and efforts were made to ensure that knowledge and teaching experiences could flow in every direction, even when or where universities and conservatories have been reduced to rubble.
When buildings are destroyed, the people who constitute the institutions remain. It is with these people—long estranged from violence, long committed to cultivating and spreading a profound and ancient musical civilization and a cultural heritage that is part of humanity’s shared patrimony—that our institutions, the Conservatory “Rinaldo Franci” of Siena and the University of Siena, have strengthened the prospects for equal and concrete collaboration.
Alongside the University of Siena, which for more than ten years has included Palestinian universities from the West Bank and the Gaza Strip within its network of international exchanges, the Conservatory “Rinaldo Franci” of Siena has joined by presenting its candidacy within the framework of the Erasmus+ programme, in agreement with the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music of Birzeit University.
The concert offered to the academic and student body and the wider public aims to bring attention back to the tragedy still unfolding in the Gaza Strip, exacerbated by the conflict that has erupted in the region. The shared decision of the organizing committee has identified dialogue through sound—through music and voices—as the best way forward: the voices of those who ask for silence, the silence of weapons, so that the universal and shared language of music may resonate across distances. In this way it affirms that in Gaza, in Bethlehem, in the West Bank, people resist in order to exist—and in order one day to play music in peace and freedom.
A brief introduction by representatives of the institutions involved will open the concert that will proceed with an alternation of live performances and live-streamed contributions by musicians from the Siena Conservatory and from the Gaza and Bethlehem branches of the Palestinian National Conservatory.
The concert will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at the Auditorium of the Santa Chiara Lab of the University of Siena (Via Val di Montone 1). Admission is free and the event is open to all members of the academic communities and to the public.
في مواجهة هدير الحرب، تبدو الموسيقى صوت السلام. وعلى أساس هذا المبدأ، واصل موسيقيو غزة، حتى تحت القصف، تدريب طلابهم وطالباتهم ومشاركة تسجيلات لقاءاتهم على وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي. لقد وثّقوا رغبة لا يمكن كبحها في الحياة والحرية والسلام لدى الأجيال الجديدة، وهي رغبة ما كان ينبغي لها أن تسقط تحت وطأة العنف اللاإنساني الذي أُطلق عليهم.
لقد أصغينا إليهم: استمع طلابنا وطالباتنا إليهم، واستجابت مؤسساتنا بتقديم المساعدة التي تجسّدت في اتفاقيات وعلاقات تبادل أكاديمي، عبر استقبال شباب وشابات ليتمكنوا من مواصلة دراستهم هنا، ووضع إمكاناتنا في متناولهم لكي تتدفق المعارف والخبرات التعليمية في جميع الاتجاهات، حتى عندما تتحول الجامعات والمعاهد الموسيقية إلى أنقاض.
قد تُدمَّر المباني، لكن الأشخاص الذين يصنعون المؤسسات يبقون. ومع هؤلاء الأشخاص—الذين كانوا دائماً بعيدين عن العنف، والذين التزموا دوماً برعاية ونشر حضارة موسيقية عميقة وعريقة وإرث ثقافي يُعد جزءاً من التراث الإنساني—عزّزت مؤسساتنا، معهد «رينالدو فرانشي» الموسيقي في سيينا وجامعة سيينا، آفاق التعاون المتكافئ والملموس.
إلى جانب جامعة سيينا، التي أدرجت منذ أكثر من عشر سنوات جامعات فلسطينية من الضفة الغربية وقطاع غزة ضمن شبكتها للتبادل الدولي، انضم معهد «رينالدو فرانشي» الموسيقي في سيينا، مقدِّماً ترشحه في إطار برنامج إيراسموس+، بالتفاهم مع المعهد الوطني للموسيقى «إدوارد سعيد» في جامعة بيرزيت.
يهدف الحفل الموسيقي، الموجّه إلى الطلبة وإلى عموم المواطنين، إلى إعادة تسليط الضوء على المأساة التي ما تزال جارية في قطاع غزة، والتي تفاقمت بسبب الصراع الذي اندلع في المنطقة. وقد رأى منظمو الحفل أن أفضل سبيل هو الحوار عبر الصوت—عبر الموسيقى والأصوات—أصوات من يطالبون بالصمت، صمت الأسلحة، حتى يتردد عبر المسافات اللغة العالمية المشتركة للموسيقى، تأكيداً على أن في غزة، وفي بيت لحم، وفي الضفة الغربية، هناك من يقاوم من أجل أن يوجد، ومن أجل أن يتمكن يوماً ما من العزف في سلام وحرية.
سيتكوّن الحفل من مقدمة قصيرة يقدمها ممثلو المؤسسات المعنية، تليها فقرات متناوبة من العروض الحية والبث المباشر عبر الإنترنت يؤديها موسيقيون من معهد سيينا الموسيقي ومن فرعي غزة وبيت لحم للمعهد الوطني الفلسطيني للموسيقى.
سيبدأ الحفل عند الساعة الخامسة مساءً من يوم الثلاثاء 17 مارس/آذار 2026 في قاعة الأوديتوريوم التابعة لمختبر سانتا كيارا (Santa Chiara Lab) بجامعة سيينا، في العنوان: فيا فال دي مونتوني 1. الدخول مجاني، والفعالية مفتوحة لجميع مكونات المجتمع الأكاديمي ولعموم المواطنين.
